Lore Group case study

The challenge

Lore Group designs, transforms and runs hotels and food & drink concepts in notable cities across Europe and the United States. Its people, around 2,000 of them across six hotels in three countries, were served by 22 separate HRIS, payroll and labour-scheduling systems, with no cohesion and no single source of truth.

In 2020 the group came to Team Wheel with a clear aim: one HR platform delivering universal functionality worldwide, to make life easier for teams, bring them together and create a genuine sense of belonging wherever someone worked.

Team Wheel’s approach

We started from the business problem, not a product, running a structured selection that took the guesswork out of a group-wide decision, then stayed on to lead the build.

  1. Mapped the real requirementsInterviewed stakeholders across every part of the business to capture the functionality they needed, the problems to fix and the parts worth keeping, then compiled a detailed specification.
  2. Ran the market properlyResearched 21 package providers, shortlisted six, took demonstrations of specific product areas, and narrowed to a final three.
  3. Scored it with Lore’s leadershipBuilt an RFP of around 400 questions, then weighted, scored and analysed the responses alongside Lore’s senior team, which pointed clearly to Workday.
  4. Led a two-phase implementationDeployed employee-facing areas first, including reporting and payroll, followed by recruitment and internal processes.

The results

Every Lore employee now works from one inclusive platform, with no more logging into different systems to do one job. We consulted across the group to understand how teams actually work, tailored the solution to fit, and negotiated a significant subsidy and a 40% implementation discount along the way.

Beyond the headline consolidation, the platform automates transactional HR and report production, brings recruitment, onboarding and talent-planning into one place, and makes people metrics such as time-to-fill and cost-to-hire by role visible for the first time. Approval hierarchies keep processes followed across the group, data sits securely in one system rather than in spreadsheets, and the whole thing scales easily as hotels are added or changed.

  • Direct, group-wide communication and higher engagement across every hotel.
  • Greater scheduling productivity and flexibility for employees and managers.
  • True, instant visibility of key people and payroll data from one source of truth.
